Somewhere along the evolutionary road, we came to believe that humans are not animals, that we are different, maybe even better. The truth is, we are all animals. So it begs the question, what makes us human? We think it’s our ability to go beyond looking out only for ourselves and also reaching out to protect the lives of animals around us.
Doing My Bit Foundation is about us humans working as a community to help the street animals in our cities. Every donation goes towards feeding and helping animals in need, and working towards their well being, rehabilitation and release.
You’re an animal.
Where animal lovers from all over can support our community of volunteers who protect, feed and rehabilitate the street animals of our city. The time, money, effort and heart that is put into rehabilitating and tending to these animals, sometimes comes at great cost and little thanks. With Doing My Bit Foundation, we can create a sustainable solution that lets us all participate in our own way.
Doing My Bit Foundation is here to create an ecosystem
Rescuing seems to be in their DNA. Their tiny home in Mumbai is a safe haven for animals, birds and yes, even snakes. Read the Acharya story on our blog.
For a city that's all about self-fulfilment, it's wonderful to know people like Naina and her husband thrive with compassion in their hearts - a sentiment that usually gets lost in the din and chaos of Mumbai where earning a living is all that has mattered to most. Listen to Naina discuss her life and her passion for animal rescue.
When you save the life of a creature, it makes sure you are rewarded. With devotion. With gratitude. In the form of a lick on your face, or purring against your legs, or in the case of Salim Sheikh’s ‘Baby’, a gentle peck.
In the depths of despair and destitution, Pari, a fragile and emaciated dog, discovered a glimmer of hope on the outskirts of Mumbai. Through the kindness of strangers, she found a home at Don Bosco's High School, where she taught students about empathy and coexistence. The unconditional love and support of the entire school community, helped Pari find her place in a world that once seemed so harsh and unforgiving.
It may not be a lot but it’s not nothing.
It’s whatever I can do, from wherever I am for the animals of my city.
The animals who have no one looking out for them but the handful of people who, rain or shine, take care of them with no reward except for the love they receive from these animals. I am here to help them continue their calling. I am here to be a part of the ecosystem they have quietly been building. I am here to help in my own way.
I am here to do my bit.
I am Doing My Bit.
Mumbai's streets are filled with stray animals, relying on the kindness of locals for survival. Sadly, adoption is challenging for these animals, especially the Indies. They face hardships during various weather conditions and festive occasions filled with firecrackers. We urge corporate parks, schools, and colleges to open their doors and adopt these animals, teaching students compassion and empathy.
Be a part of the Open Door Project and if required, we will cover all necessary vaccinations, sterilisations, grooming and medical treatments. All we ask from you is to instruct your watchmen to keep the animal within the premises. By adopting them and embracing them into your community, we can provide them with a sense of safety. While many street animals may not find traditional homes, they can still gain access to secure private spaces if humans create a small place for them. Call us on: +91 8433966108 or write to us on doingmybitfoundation@gmail.com. Having an animal at your doorstep demonstrates your humanity, and eventually becomes a source of pride.

As a part of the Open Door Project, we designed and built spacious, comfortable shelters big enough to accommodate adult dogs and cats. Made from fiber, these nooks are tough enough to withstand any kind of weather. They even double up as plant holders. They can be placed within private premises or near shops. If you are interested in placing one of these in your locality, please DM us or reach out to us at doingmybitfoundation@gmail.com.
"The worst sin toward our fellow creatures is not to hate them, but to be indifferent to them: that's the essence of inhumanity."
-George Bernard Shaw.
Doing My Bit Foundation is committed
to the welfare of animals
Feeding street animals is a simple act of kindness that fills one's heart with an indescribable joy. As you approach these furry creatures, their eyes light up with gratitude and their tails wag or purr in anticipation. With each morsel of food placed before them, you witness their hunger being satisfied, their bodies growing stronger, and their spirits uplifted. In that moment, a bond is formed, transcending the boundaries of species. Their innocent appreciation and unspoken trust in you become a powerful reminder of the compassion that exists within us all. The joy of feeding stray animals lies not only in the act itself but also in knowing that, for that brief moment, you have made a positive impact on their lives and brought a glimmer of hope into their world.
With the donations we receive, we are so far able to feed approximately 150 street animals per month. Besides feeding, we are also committed to providing our community animals with exceptional nourishment, necessary medical attention, and the same level of care bestowed upon any beloved pet.
If you are an animal lover and wish you could do your bit, please consider donating. We need kind people who feel that our street animals and all other animals deserve a better life.
