Yardena Kurulkar, Founder
Yardena Elhanan Kurulkar is an artist living and working in Mumbai. Twelve years ago, she rescued and adopted her indie dog, Casper. It opened her eyes to the plight of street animals and she made a commitment to do whatever she could to help them. Over the years, she has rescued and rehabilitated several animals in her own capacity. Last year, she decided to actively involve herself in this work and finally founded the Doing My Bit Foundation in May 2022. Yardena believes that there is goodness waiting to nullify every act of cruelty. She hopes the Foundation will someday help each and every rescuer to rescue animals without having to think of the financial and logistical burden.
Priya Patil, Founder
Priya Patil is an artist who graduated in Pottery and Ceramic from Sir J.J School of Art, Mumbai. She enjoys teaching this magical medium and also indulges in Macrame. She loves the company of animals and after the death of both her indie dogs, Ku and Snu, Priya decided to get involved in rescue work actively. This led her to start the Doing My Bit Foundation. She feels that – when we are in the company of people, we have to find our own space and presence, but in the company of animals, they make space for us, happily and easily. Priya believes that oneness with nature is what grounds us all as humans and binds us together, eternally.
Rohini H, Team Contributor
Ever since she was a little girl, Rohini has been bringing home injured animals and birds that her grandmother would help her heal. Today, she feeds street dogs daily and helps to get them vaccinated, neutered, and treated when they fall ill. Rohini deeply believes that while she feeds their bodies, they feed her heart. The pure joy with which they greet and trust her is a gift she intends to share with the younger generation, whom she believes, needs to take a break from their fast-paced lives and just... paws!
Kaavya Shah, Creative Director (Digital)
Kaavya is a copywriter from Mumbai. She has always felt an inexplicable connection towards animals. During the pandemic, she helped feed local street animals around her neighbourhood and even managed to rescue and rehabilitate an abandoned indie, Caspar. According to her, the world would be a better place if we were all taught to be more senstized to street dogs and cats from an early age. Even on her worst days, there’s nothing a wagging tail and a damp snout cannot fix.
Lekshmi Raj, Team Contributor
Lekshmi Raj is a designer, an alumni of NIFT Gandhinagar, now residing in Mumbai. She looks after several street dogs and cats in her neighbourhood by feeding them, taking them for regular health checkups and treating them for disease and accidents. She has adopted 3 street cats, 2 of which were in critical condition and nursed them back to health. She has assisted countless animals over the years by raising funds and getting direct veterinarian treatment. Lekshmi says that there is an inexplicable joy that comes from helping an animal in distress and eventually releasing it in good health.
Bharti Chinderkar, Team Contributer
Twelve years ago, Bharti rescued and welcomed a sick and grievously injured indie pup into her life. Deeply moved by the hardships faced by strays, she decided to act and do everything possible to improve their lives. Over the years, Bharti has extended her efforts to embrace numerous cats and dogs, fostering them with love and dedication. Having made a positive impact on the lives of countless furry companions in the past, she now is an integral part of the foundation’s team.
Shraddha Takle, Accountant and Tax Consultant
Shraddha, a self-employed accountant and tax consultant, finds solace in cuddling and playing with cats and dogs around her. She feels that these moments of interaction bring her a sense of rejuvenation and joy. For Shraddha, it's remarkable how simple acts like caressing, feeding, and talking to these furry companions can bring immense happiness to them. Joining DMB Foundation marks the beginning of her journey to go the extra mile for these incredible souls with paws, aiming to make a difference in their lives.
All our team members contribute as volunteers, dedicating their time without receiving any compensation except for the abundance of love they receive from animals. It is thanks to these extraordinary individuals, that we can allocate your entire donation towards the well-being and support of our street animals.
